How soon after the birth can I do light exercise/cardio?

maraca asked:

I have been told conflicting things about this.

The first one is no exercise whatsoever for 6 weeks.
The second was you can do walking & light cardio (on a treadmill or cross trainer) as early as a week after the birth but no abdominal exercises for 6 weeks because the muscles need to heal.

I would like to do some light cardio as long as it’s okay

The Real Truth About Being A Golf Pro

Andy West asked:

Your dream job may be putting your natural skills to work, and if you’re into golf, you surely know about the money that certain famous names can rake in by becoming a golf pro. Out on the green under the bright, warm sunlight, slowly preparing you for that perfect swing that’ll send the ball straight down the midway to the cup. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect career? Maybe you’re the type that wants to teach the wealthy what you know, helping them to perfect their game while you earn an income from their lack of talent. You could just be someone who wants to become one of those big names, fame and fortune calling you and teasing you as you work some boring job in a routine of daily grind.

There’s far more than just sun, grass and talent involved in becoming a golf pro. In today’s society, everything has become a competition for bigger, better and more. Even the sports industry has turned into a sink-or-swim job market, where you need more than pure talent to rise ahead. Colleges and academies offer courses and education for golfing careers, which shows that just being able to play isn’t enough to land your dream career. Businesses who hire professionals to work in their golf complexes want versatile employees who know how to hit the ball as well as manage a team of employees and run a profitable industry. You need to have the right type of beginning skills to become a golf pro. If you’re determined to pursue this type of career, it’s a good idea to get an inside look at the job profile to see if a golf pro is the right choice for you.

Sure, the golf industry has a lot of money to spare. At $62 billion, there’s more than enough wealth in golfing to go around, but there’s also around 28,000 people working as golf pros or apprentices. Someone who wants to be at the top of their league, earning the title of golf pro to get a chunk of that cash, will need to put in long hours, have a good golf score and business skills, as well as a proper education to back them up. You have to be on top of your game and be able to play well to work towards a pro golf career. Most educational facilities only accept students if they have a handicap of 12.

There’s a PGA Professional Golf Management program you can enroll in, or you can become a student at one of the many academies and colleges offering similar golf pro degrees. You’ll need to have teaching skills as well, because a golf pro can sometimes be called upon to pass on what he knows to others and learning to teach properly is important. The highest dropout rate in golf programs occurs in the first year, when many students realize that there’s more than fun and games involved in earning their degree. A golf pro can be called on to handle many aspects in the golf industry and business skills are what propel you up that ladder of success.

Be prepared to end up in a position where you didn’t expect to be. Many golf pros end up teaching and coaching more than they do perfecting their swing, or managing golf complexes from the food industry located inside to the paperwork and planning of changes to the course. Essentially, you have to look towards being someone who helps others with their game instead of working on your own. Interpersonal skills are a must and you need to be a strong people person, as you’ll be working with many different individuals. Being a golf pro isn’t about being the best you can be, it’s definitely about making sure others progress to being better than they are.

The Pros And Cons Of Electrolysis

Megan Halloway asked:

Electrolysis is a method by which body hair is removed. It can be performed on any part of the body except the ears and the inside of the nose. Women often have electrolysis done on their bikini area, underarms, tummy, breasts, chin, brows, and upper lip, although hair can also be removed on the toes, arms, forehead, buttocks and legs. Many men also use electrolysis to remove unwanted hair on their eyebrows, cheekbones, neck, but especially their shoulders and backs. Electrolysis can be arduous in that each individual hair must receive treatment. The treatment consists of a trained practitioner inserting a needle under the skin. An electric current passes through the hair follicle, damaging it.

It is believed that experiments involving electronial epilation (the removal of hair) were taking place as long ago as the Civil War era. Dr. Charles E. Michel (himself an ophthalmologist) reported in the St. Louis Clinical Record in 1875 of the first successful permanent hair epilation by electrolysis. Since then, electrolysis has become quite popular.

Is electrolysis for you?

You should compare the pros and cons of receiving electrolysis before you make that decision. What are some of the advantages of using electrolysis for permanent hair removal? Perhaps the strongest case for using electrolysis for hair removal is that is has the best record of accomplishment for results. For over one hundred and twenty five years, practitioners have been removing hair safely and effectively. In fact, electrolysis is the only method approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a way to remove hair permanently. While some hair may grow back and require additional treatments, that hair is often thinner and lighter. Studies have shown that more than 90% of clients are happy with their electrolysis results.

While the advantages to having electrolysis are huge, a couple of smaller disadvantages may prevent some people off from trying it. One disadvantage is the cost involved. Electrolysis can be very expensive. The average cost of a one-hour electrolysis session is generally between $50 and $60. Remember, however, that during this one-hour session, each hair follicle has to be individually treated. Electrolysis sessions are often broken down into fifteen, thirty, and forty-five minute sessions as well, making them a bit more affordable. You may also get a discount by purchasing a package of two or more hours. Because it is not possible to remove the hair permanently in one treatment, you will need to have additional treatments. How many treatments you need is determined by many things including hair growth cycles, heredity, hormone function, and stress. The average cost of a complete treatment of your legs ranges between $1000 and $3000.

Another disadvantage of electrolysis is that it can be painful and there is a risk of scarring. The sensation of pain depends on each person’s pain threshold, but there is a feeling of a pinprick and of course, some areas of the body are more sensitive than other areas. Some people compare the pain of electrolysis to that of plucking a hair with a pair of tweezers. While scarring is not common, there is always a risk. Pitted scarring often occurs when flash thermolysis electrolysis is used on thick, deeply rooted hair as opposed to shallow, thin hair. Finding a qualified practitioner with years of experience should reduce the risk of scarring.

When considering electrolysis, there are several things you should ask the practitioner. Ask if they use needle electrolysis. This has a much higher success rate than those that use the electric tweezers or photoepilators. Ask how many clients they have treated and how long they have been in business. Finally, ask their qualifications and training for being a practitioner. One third of the states in the U.S. do not require a certification for electrologists. However, you can research the Internet to find whether your state is one that requires certification. If it is, the practitioner should have the certificate prominently displayed.

Some people are not good candidates for electrolysis. People with a pacemaker cannot receive electrolysis. Those with diabetes or other serious health problems should always contact their physician before seeking electrolysis treatments to make sure it is safe. Electrolysis is safe for women who are pregnant as long as the thermolysis mode is used.

The decision to have electrolysis is a personal one. While it may require money and time, many people feel that the removal of hair boosts their self-esteem such, that it is well worth it.

Testosterone Part VIII – Testosterone Deficiency & Alzheimer’s Disease With Other Health Conditions

Kyle J. Norton asked:

I. Introduction

Testosterone deficiency

Testosterone is a male hormone. Besides promoting libido, it has other important functions such as maintaining muscle mass and forming bone, and regulating heart muscle and cholesterol. It also helps to improve the oxygen levels throughout the body as well as controlling blood glucose and strengthening the immune system. Starting at age 40, levels of testosterone start to diminish. The levels of the by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT thus triggering low levels of testosterone.

Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder named for German physician Alois Alzheimer. Alzheimer’s destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal.

II. Causes

Older men with lower levels of free, or unbound, testosterone circulating in their bloodstreams could be at higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD) than their peers.
